ZARZALONES / SIERRA DE LAS NIEVES

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Into the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves

Just outside Yunquera, in the Sierra de las Nieves, the Zarzalones canyon reveals a quieter side of Andalucía. Underground water emerging through limestone feeds clear pools and waterfalls, while polished rock, greenery and filtered sunlight make every corner feel different. We explore the lower section of Zarzalones, moving between natural pools and small waterfalls.

A private canyoning journey through emerald pools, sculpted limestone and hidden waterfalls. Guests should be comfortable swimming and moving over slippery, uneven ground.

A LITTLE ABOUT ZARZALONES

Canyoning Zarzalones

Zarzalones lies in the Sierra de las Nieves, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of limestone peaks, pinsapo firs and hidden water. In the lower canyon, guided rope descents, swimming, optional jumps and short natural slides turn the gorge into an active and memorable experience — at a pace suited to our small private group. At 4HIKE, canyoning is more than an activity: we value discovering nature together, feeling confident with new challenges, and enjoying the small moments between waterfalls and pools.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Swimwear
  • Grippy closed-toe shoes that can get wet
  • A towel and dry clothes
  • Essential medication
  • Comfortable swimming and moving over slippery, uneven ground

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

The route depends on water flow, weather, access conditions and guide assessment. Jumps and slides are optional and not always possible.

The longer upper (integral) canyon is a separate, more demanding itinerary.
